A major of expansion of the Biotech Center is currently underway to build additional state of the art research and innovation facilities within the existing Biotech Center campus.
Funded in part by grants from the U.S. Economic Development Administration and Pennsylvania Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program Grant, the expansion will grow the campus by 40% and double the lab and office space available. The businesses that will occupy the new space are expected to create over 100 new science and biotechnology jobs in Bucks County, PA. The expansion has enjoyed support from county, state and federal officials, as well as the entrepreneurs and business leaders located at the Biotech Center.
The expansion of our campus to include a new building will address the burgeoning needs of the research and educational programs currently offered at the Center, and provide space to accommodate new companies. The new 37,000 square foot building will house research and instructional facilities for the Baruch S. Blumberg Institute, offices for the Hepatitis B Foundation, the corporate headquarters and research labs for FlowMetric, and space for both new and growing tenants of the Biotech Center.
In addition to flexible office space for small, developing companies, we are planning for 29 new laboratories, and a new scientific company accelerator, called the Idea Ac-CELL-lerator. Once this new construction is completed, the PABC will be the largest life sciences incubator in Pennsylvania (outside of Philadelphia) and arguably the most successful and productive as well.
